This architectural-scale exhibit featured green, red and brown species of phytoplankton, suspended overhead in acrylic cylinders, and lit with LEDs. All three species were grown in saltwater with special nutrients added. Shown are green Nannochloropsis, brown Isochrysis, and red Porphyridium. The algae are gently mixed by air bubbles, provided by visitor-activated hand pumps.
